About Mulberry School

Welcome from our Headteacher-Ms V.J.Ogden

Ms Ogden says:
Mulberry School for Girls is a community school with over 1410 students aged 11-19. The school is close to Whtiechapel and Shadwell. It is the heart of Tower Hamlets' multi-cultural community but also on the edge of the City of London with which we have established firm business links.
Over the past decade, Mulberry has gained a reputation for academic excellence of which we are justly proud. Girls are encouraged to give of their best and to reach their full potential in an environment that is both challenging and supportive. Mulberry School aims to develop the aspirations, leadership capabilities, confidence and self-expression of young women.
Mulberry School is an exciting and enjoyable place to learn. There are many opportunites for our young women to develop their talents and abilities both within the curriculum and in the array of activities, trips and clubs that we have on offer. Examples include arts performances, the Model UN for East London which Mulberry leads, the annual trip to New York to represent the UK in the UN conference for schools, sports competitions and debate tournaments. There is also a project for gifted and talented girls.
The school is also a place where teachers and other adults can extend their professional learning and challenge their skills. Mulberry is a designated Training School and a Leading Edge school with Arts specialism. There are a number of professional development projects which include the development of pupil voice, practitioner research, middle and senior leadership training and development work in teaching and learning. Mulberry has International School status with links across the world.
Mulberry School for Girls welcomes parents and carers, aiming to keep families informed of progress, attainment and well-being. There is a parents' / carers' group and the school opens its leisure facilities to the community in the evenings. We accept girls with disabilities and complex special educational needs. Our sixth form provision is fully inclusive and very successful. Most girls move on to university from Mulberry; in 2006, 108 out of 114 took up places on under-graduate degree courses at London universities.
My aim is to ensure that all our girls and young women at Mulberry enjoy their education and feel safe, happy and secure. I want every pupil to achieve to the best of her ability and become successful, confident and articulate young leaders with a valuable contribution to make to their community, their families and our global society.
