 The Mulberry News |
Headteacher's Letter |

The year has started with highs and lows…………..
On our return, the Mulberry School community was shocked by the devastation and enormous loss of life caused by the Asian tsunami. The magnitude of the rebuilding programme and support needed by many people to deal with personal trauma is plainly evident. Everyone in the school has wanted to play their part in raising funds. Students and staff continue to organise activities for the Tsunami Appeal and we have been moved by the generous donations sent to the school by parents. This has enabled Mulberry to raise over £1,000 to date. Your daughter will keep you informed of how much we raise through the regular updates on the Reception information screen. Thank you for your support.
A cause for celebration is the news that Asma Rahman (13B) has been offered a place at St Hilda’s College, Oxford University to begin her studies in English in September. Asma has worked extremely hard and is currently studying A level English, History, Chemistry and Biology. Asma should prove an inspiration to other Mulberry girls who, with family support, are able to study at the very best universities. We wish Asma every success in her studies.
This is an important term for all girls preparing for examinations. These include year 9 SATs, year 11 GCSEs and sixth form students following a range of qualifications. A group of year 11 students are the first in Mulberry to be taking AS Bengali early, a course usually followed in year12. It is essential that students meet coursework deadlines and plan their revision programme to be thoroughly prepared for the written papers. Facilities will be available in school for students to revise and for them to receive specific examination help and support. Good luck to everyone preparing for examinations!
The school continues to provide a huge range of extra activities for the girls to benefit from during lunch times and after school. We encourage all students to participate in at least one club each week - these make a real difference to their achievements and enjoyment of their studies. Parents are welcome to contact the school for more details of study opportunities and activities.
